MOUNT AGUNG SUNRISE TREKKING

Mount agung is an active volcano in karangasem regency. It is located southeast of Mount Batur volcano, also in Bali. It is the highest point on Bali, and dominates the surrounding area, influencing the climate, especially rainfall patterns. From a distance, the mountain appears to be perfectly conical. From the peak of the mountain, it is possible to see the peak of Mount Rinjani on the nearby island of Lombok, to the east, although both mountains are frequently covered in clouds. Agung is a stratovolcano, with a large and deep crater.

Mount Agung Sunrise Trekking Itinerary :

Via Pasar Agung Temple Route (Shorter, ~4 hours up)

  • 11:30 PM – Hotel pickup and private transfer to the starting point.
  • 01:45 AM – Arrive at Pasar Agung parking area, safety briefing and meet your local guide.
  • 02:00 AM – Begin the 4-hour night trek up through the forest and volcanic paths.
  • 06:00 AM – Arrive at the crater rim/sunrise point; enjoy a light breakfast with hot tea or coffee and watch the sunrise.
  • 07:30 AM – Start the descent back down the mountain.
  • 11:00 AM – Arrive back at the starting point and board your car for the return trip.
  • 01:00 PM – Arrive back at your hotel

Via Besakih Temple Route (Highest Peak, ~6 hours up)

  • 09:00 PM – Hotel pickup and private transfer to besakih.
  • 11:00 PM – Arrive at the starting point for a safety briefing.
  • 11:15 PM – Begin the challenging 6-hour ascent to the absolute highest summit (steep sections may require climbing on hands and feet).
  • 06:00 AM – Reach the true summit for panoramic views, sunrise above the clouds, and a light volcanic breakfast.
  • 07:30 AM – Begin the long descent back down the mountain trails.
  • 12:00 PM – Reach the base parking area and transfer back to your hotel.

What Should You Bring To The Trek :

  • Hiking shoes or proper trainers
  • Insect repellent, there are some mosquitoes on the trail
  • Jacket
  • Long pants
  • Camera.
